THE VERDICT...

Today Dr. Lo told us that he's 85% sure
that it's a BOY!! woo hoo...we saw the little weenus
on the ultrasound so it was pretty exciting.
We got a few pictures
that we are going to post here shortly.
Everything is looking good as far as development,
hormone levels, and blood work.
We did the test for down syndrome in which we will get the
results in ten days or so...
stay tuned!

Week 12...

So here we are at week 12, already! We had our appointment today and everything looks great. Once we got into the regular room, we were able to hear the heartbeat on the doppler and was within normal range. We were very glad to be able to hear our little baby's ticker boppin away, so cool. After that we did a few other things and talked with the nurse, then headed into the ultrasound room. There is a giant ultrasound machine with a computer screen and then another TV monitor you can see hanging on the wall. Once the ultrasound started you could see that our little mini baluga/bean done growed into a tiny little baby. You could see its face and eyes and of course the rest of the body.

Dr. Lo goes, "oop, baby's movin" and I kid you not the little one waved, and gave a peace sign. naw, not really but it moved its arm up and down, which was pretty sweet. Then we looked around at a few other things that I'm not sure what they were...and then again he was like, "oop, baby's movin again" baby started doing jumping jacks and then did a head spin. ok, kidding again, but baby was moving quite a bit. So we have an active little one. It was so cool to see him/her move around. And to top it off baby is a little bigger than average, go figure right? Anyways, we are glad that everything is going well and mama bear has started to become less and less nauseated.
Our next appointment is the end of December so stayed tuned for more info on baby Dinero or baby Oprah. Here's the latest pics...enjoy!

COMING SUMMER 2010!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Well, as I am sure you know that is an old movie but it does hint at the fact that Lauren is pregnant! We are very excited to announce this and to let you all know that she is almost 9 weeks right now. We have had our detailed and graphic doctors appointments and everything is going according to plan. We were able to hear the heart beat at our last ultrasound which was pretty sweet and FAST! Lauren has the pregnancy books out and apparently we are having a pink mini beluga whale with a tail? They also say that it is a kidney bean, that is crazy that a kidney bean turns into a human baby.
Anyways we are super pumped that all is going well and I think Lauren's sense of smell is like a blood hound, she has yet to bark tho, I'm sure that is coming later on in the journey. we will be sending out this link as we update our blog. Keep my wonderful wife and our little baby beluga kidney bean in your prayers!

School

It's been a pretty long time since we wrote on here so I'll write a quick update.
I've been in school again now since May and it's going great. I am NOT the oldest person in the program either so that's awesome. I may have a few more grays than the other guy who is 37. Anyways, I signed up for the Physical Therapy assistant program at Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City and was accepted. Of course, being the shy person I am, I am always eager to volunteer to demonstrate everything in class. The recent 'outtake' was when were doing wheelchair management. We had to learn how to fall in a wheelchair, backwards. SO I was like I'll do it. I sat down, the professor put my breaks on and before I knew it I was flat on my back. She said, ok class, now that Cory has demonstrated how NOT to do it, I'll explain how you want to fall. ugh, my old spine couldnt handle a lot of that...anyways, all is going well and I am getting good grades so I hope to be putting my report card up on the fridge soon!!

Tonsil update

The first two days went off without a hitch, yesterday however, a different story.
My throat was pretty sore in the a.m. but the 6 a.m. meds helped. I napped off and on for about 2 and a half hours, when I would up all hell broke loose. I initially noticed that my ears felt like there were ice picks sticking in them. Which was bad enough, when I tried to take a drink, I could not swallow so I choked a bit and water came out my mouth. Coughing with a raw throat is probably the worst pain in my life. There was no pain scale for this, luckily we planned to have mom here while Lauren worked. We called in and told them what was up and they wanted me to come in right away.
When I got to the hospital I was set up in the 'infusion' room, where they do chemo and blood transfusions, etc. The nurse that helped me out was great, she could tell something was up, she noticed right away that my ears where purple and my face was white. Not good. So she started an IV which helped with my thirsty feeling initially.
Them the Decadrone, steroid was put in for swelling and pain, but finally thank God for morphine. This helped the most, within two hours of being there I had two bags of fluid in me and I actually could talk and swallow ice water.
I have a fairly high pain tolerance, but don't let anyone fool you, having your tonsils out as an adult is everything bad that you hear about. But hopefully in the next 3-5 days I continue on the upswing. stay tuned for updates...maybe even a sweet look into my throat for all you strong stomached people!
love you all.

The tonsil deal

Ok, so yesterday I saw this ENT yesterday and apparently it's bad when they say, "oh my.." when they look in your throat. So the tonsils are coming out February 9th and I am oh so excited. I will be doing a photo journal of my dramatic weight loss that will be to come. I should actually write a book about the "Tonsillectomy" diet, sounds like a best seller. Another sweet thing my wonderful wife read to me last night is that I will have bad breath from the scabs that form in the back of my throat. Haaa...I just said "ew" too. anyways, stay tuned for more to come and I'll be posting pictures. soon.

Puppy

Lauren and I are going to be proud parents of a poop machine.
Most people call it a puppy, dog, or in this case a Pug, but my
mom lovingly refers to it as a poop machine. Right now we are thinking
Roxie for a name but who knows what we might come up with. I was thinking
BigFoot or Chewbacca but those got vetoed by Lauren, I wish my vote counted
as two instead of one. =( Oh well...here's a pic of our little girl as of 1/19.
