As you can see from the title, our little man is smiling! It's the cutest thing ever! I first saw it about a week ago when I had him on his changing table and of course every time I really wanted him to do it or when I tried to get a picture of it he wouldn't do it! Now he's smiling pretty frequently and we love it! Both grandmas have even gotten the pleasure of seeing it! We have finally gotten a couple pictures of it too.

Things are still going really well. Kane (6 weeks) is spending more of his time during the day being alert and cooing away but we definitely know when he's tired. I think sometimes he's afraid he's going to miss something so he fights falling asleep which then makes him grumpy! He's such an active little thing too, holding his head up great and just squirming around all the time. He has started to sleep a little bit longer at night now too, so Mom is getting more than 2 hours of sleep at a time! YAY! Not sleeping all the way through the night yet though, but we're getting there. He's starting to like his baths now too so that's fun, except for when he poops or pees in the tub. He's really good at pooping when Mom and Dad aren't ready, like on the changing table when we don't have the diaper ready fast enough or in the clean towel right after his bath. Always entertaining! This little ones keeps us on our toes!

We have just been enjoying every minute with our little guy and we are having so much fun watching him grow and change so quickly. We both think we might have our hands full with him since he is so alert and active already but that's not surprising considering his Dad was the same way when he was a baby!

Yes, it's true! Kane is now 1 month old! That went fast! Things have been going great and we have loved watching him change every day. It's amazing how such a tiny little thing can change so much!

We do know that Kane likes to eat! Our little man now weighs 10 lbs 5 oz! He's gained 3 pounds from when he was born! He definitely doesn't miss a meal and will let us know when he's hungry. He has started to go a little bit longer in between feedings but not by much, about every 3 hours. Momma will be happy when he goes longer at night and she can get a little bit more sleep! =)

He is still a very good baby, only getting fussy every once and a while when he's gassy, hungry, or just wants to be held or walk around. He is more alert every day and loves to stare at our faces or at the bright windows or lights. He is a wiggle worm and is constantly moving his arms and legs and lifting his head to look around. He also likes to lay on his tummy when he naps, especially if it's on someone's chest.

After last week's post we had our first overnight stay out of the house. We stayed up in Lake View at Grandpa Doug (Poppy) & Grandma Pat's (Nana) house (Cory's parents). Mom and Dad got to relax on the beach at the pond while the grandparent's watched Kane and that night didn't go to bad either. It was a successful trip! Grandma Joni (Grammy), Lauren's mom came on July 4th and 5th to see Kane too so he had a busy weekend of being cuddled!

The weeks have been going by so quickly. I don't go back to work until September 7th but I'm sure that will be here before I know it. =( I'm still waiting for the smile from Kane, should be coming soon! I think he's going to have a small dimple on his left cheek. I've got the camera ready for when it happens, so stay tuned!

Last week we had another busy week with visitors and also visiting Dad at work and the folks at the nursing home again (mom's work). Kane does great in his car seat and usually just falls asleep. I guess we know what we can do if we ever have a problem getting him to sleep! This weekend we took another road trip for the day to Missouri Valley for a baby shower and that went well too. Finally, Mom and Dad had our first night out last night...Date Night! Grandma Joni was in town to go to the baby shower too so she stayed the night and watched Kane so we could go out. We were going to go see the new Twilight movie Eclipse but decided we would both probably fall asleep so we decided to go golfing instead since it was such a nice night. We went to dinner afterward and then came home. It was a very nice date night and we will be planning another one soon! (Mom needs to brush up on her golfing skills so we may be hitting up the driving range soon!)
