Kane's 1st Christmas....

I can't believe Christmas is over already! Well, the actual holiday anyway...we still have a couple more family celebrations coming up. We have had 3 already! Thursday the 23rd we went to Missouri Valley to see my mom's side. Kane got to meet his cousin Chase who is about 2.5 months younger, weighs about the same and has a full head of hair! It was fun seeing them together. I made the mistake of not bringing my camera so you'll have to check out Facebook to see if my any pictures of this meeting are posted. We came back to Carroll that night and my mom and sister stayed here with us. Christmas eve we celebrated with my mom and stepdad and had our annual steak and crab legs...yummy! Then Christmas day my dad came up and we had the always wonderful taco bar! Fish tacos AND regular tacos...my dad only knows how to cook for an army so we'll be eating tacos for the next week! =)
The weather didn't get too crazy so everyone was able to travel safely. Kane got tons of great gifts...lots of new toys to play with! We got him a bubble maker to use in the bathtub but when we tried it last night he was scared of it! He actually was on the verge of tears! In his defense, it wasn't the quietest thing in the world. All in all it was a great Christmas and we are so glad that we could all spend it together. We had a lot of fun and Kane's 1st Christmas was a success. He didn't act too interested in the wrapping paper but he enjoyed the bows and tissue paper. This week we have my stepdad's family Christmas and Saturday we have Cory's family Christmas. The weekend after is our last one, the Rhoten Christmas (my dad's side). Cory will be posting video of Christmas and a couple other things and here are some pictures as usual! =)

Trying to get into the presents early

Helping Mom out with her laundry

Santa's little helper and his new loot

Loved this toy from Aunt Claire. He kept smiling at himself in the mirror.

Found another bow

Quit putting the bows on my head Mom!

Christmas, crawling, and peas?

The first clip is of Kane eating peas. Now, he's eaten peas before but for some reason this night he wasn't quite a fan of them. The reaction is priceless...until he figured out how to spit them at Mom! The second clip is of Kane on the move...self explanatory!

Kane's 1st Christmas! We opened gifts on Christmas Eve with my mom. It was getting close to being dinner time for Kane so that explains why Mom is hurrying through the gifts. Kane was pretty indifferent at first and apparently didn't burp very well after his bottle judging from the spit up! Once we got to the toys he was a little bit more interested. Enjoy!

6 Months already!

Hey guys...it's been about a month since we wrote so here's what has been going on
with little big man.
He is rolling around the living room with ease and does not stop for more than
about a second while doing so. He can sit up a little bit here and there but he just wants to be on the move so sitting will be a concept we will have to work on down the road. (must get that from his mom) Also, he is bouncing around like a mad man in the Jumperoo. I think you'll see some 'down' time in the video of him screaming at his Jumperoo toys. A blood curdling scream that will only leave the neighbors wondering. I think he loves hearing himself, again, like his mom. =) Yes, this is Cory writing. He is saying the 'goos' and 'gahs' and he says "HEY" which you'll see in the video. Eating wise, he has been doing wellwith with the rice cereal so we started to introduce vegies. So, of course, mom and dad were excited to see little man's reactions on the new food. Well, jokes on us because he loved everything we gave him, which is a good thing. He's a growing boy we will find out on Monday how long he is and what he weighs these days.
Today we went to get grogs, (groceries) and he would just watch everyone and smile at them as they passed by. Quite a few people would stop and say hi to him and he'd just smile away. Social little butterfly. After we got back and put away the grogs, we started on the Christmas tree and decor. The holiday tunes were bumping on the radio and Kane had a blast watching us try to be 'crafty'. The tree looks pretty decent, he likes to touch the branches, and like always, he smiles at the tree too.
We have a crazy blizzard going on right now so we are all bundled up and watching some TV.
We will update again after his 6 month check up and after more SHOTS! Not for mom and dad but for little Kaner, more vaccinations.

Happy Holidays...The Schmidgalls.

This is rare because he's usually moving flailing his arms around like he's trying to fly and another moment caught on camera sitting, soon to slump to the side to grab another toy.

Lauren here...of course I had to add some pictures!

5 months!

Where have the past 5 months gone!? The holidays are creeping up too fast and Kane is growing up too fast! He is such a little busy body. We can tell he wants to crawl so badly but he can't quite figure out it just yet. He has become very good at rolling around though. He still loves his jumperoo but get's frustrated after a while (I think because he jumps and jumps but always stays in one place). He also gets mad when he can't get the toys in his mouth! We are working on sitting up too, he can make it a couple of seconds on his own but then topples over. He's getting closer though! He has gotten quite the personality and Dad says he has Mom's temperament. I'll let everyone else figure out what that might be! =)
We have started giving Kane cereal 2 times a day now and he loves it. We can't feed him fast enough, as you can tell from the video. We can't wait to see how he reacts to other foods once we start them. He has become very interested in what we are doing when we eat our meals now. He still likes his paci but finds his thumb and fingers occasionally. He likes to blow bubbles too and once he finds a new sound he will repeat it often. He is also now trying to imitate some of the sounds we make as well. He sleeps fairly well. Through the night for the most part unless he wakes up and wants his paci. He is an early bird which is ok during the week, but we don't get to sleep in on the weekends much. Ever since the time change he has been wide awake at 5:30am! The upcoming holiday season will be very busy as usual but we are excited for Kane to meet family that haven't seen him yet. I guess that is all I can think of right now...seems like he does so much and changes every day it's hard to keep up! It will only get crazier once he gets movin! Enjoy some pictures of our little man!

LOVE this picture!

Kane's 1st Halloween!

Happy Little Pumpkin!

Cheeeeeeeese!

Kane enjoyed looking out the front window
with Mommy at all the Trick or Treaters

Kane's cute little happy face pumpkin

Roxy didn't like her costume at all

Dad was busy protecting the neighborhood

The plan was to have a family super hero theme but that didn't pan out as planned. The costume we got for Kane ended up being too small. I guess that's what we get for buying it early! Oops! He was supposed to be Spiderman Baby, Mom was Bat girl and Dad was of course Batman. Batman's outfit was too hot so he ended up going as a Minnesota Vikings fan! Next year Kane will get to enjoy trick or treating too!

Fun with POOP

Apparently this is how Kane felt about Iowa's loss last night! WOW!

Trying to figure out how to tackle this...

Not very successful at all! Kane wasn't too pleased either...

Wiping him down even before taking off the diaper...

Impressive...

I managed to salvage the Hawkeye onesie...

This is how Dad felt about the smell!

Don't worry...Kane got a bath afterward!

4 months old!

Kane Griffin is now 4 months old! My how time flies! It seems like he does something new and exciting every day and he just keeps getting bigger. We took him in for his checkup on Friday and he weighed in at 15 lbs 9 oz and his length was 24.25 inches long. Cory and I both think they measured his length wrong though because he seems to be growing out of his pants very quickly and his legs are almost too long for his sleepers! He is wearing some 6 month clothing already! As you can tell from previous posts, Kane has discovered how to roll! It seems like he all of a sudden picked it up and now he's doing it all the time. He is also a little chatter box and loves to hear his own voice. It's so fun to listen to him talk! He's has become obsessed with his feet, staring at them and squealing and grabbing at them when he's on his back on the floor or on the changing table. I think we have all pretty much gotten used to a schedule now after me being back at work for a month, but we still have our off nights. We have also started feeding Kane rice cereal every night and he loves it! We can't wait to see his little personality continue to develop as well as all the physical changes he makes and the milestones he reaches. It's amazing how much he changes in such a short period of time...it goes so fast! He's such a fun, good little boy! I'm sure posts will keep getting shorter as mom and dad will have to be running after Kane more and more instead of updating but we will keep adding stuff as we can. We try to catch fun videos but it always seems like Kane quits whatever he is doing once the video camera comes on. But we always have pictures!!!! =)

Ready to cheer on the Hawks with Daddy!

Notice the spot under Kane?

I think this is a poop face.

At a parade

Ok I couldn't resist! This is Mommy....anyone else see the resemblance???

He's starting to notice Roxy now.
Roxy doesn't look too pleased in this picture but she loves him!
