Hello Everyone! I think the nice weather is finally here to stay...nevermind that last little freak snow storm we had. We have been trying to get outside as much as possible, especially to get some of those nasty cold germs blown off the kids! Kane loves getting to play outside with his friends at daycare and after dinner we try to go for a walk or get to the park. Landry had her first experience in the grass the other day. She seemed to like it a little better than Kane did when he was a baby.
It seems crazy that Landry is already 7 months old! The days have been flying by as we have been pretty busy at our house with the remodel. There are some pictures below, but the biggest change was the expansion of our laundry room and now we have an awesome mud room! We also painted one of the walls in the kitchen with chalkboard paint so I am excited to start using that. The only thing left is the corner shelving piece that will be installed in June. It has been fun seeing the changes as the guys that have done all of the work have been very fast and efficient. It was hard to go without my washer and dryer for a while though! I never thought I'd actually be excited to do laundry! I think in the past 3 days I have done at least 12 loads! (I will try to post more pictures of everything once it is all done).
Cory and I did our first 5K together in April and it was really fun and we both survived! It was the Glow Run in Des Moines and we plan to do it again next year! We are running the Dam to Dam 5K in a couple of weeks so we are still trying to get as much running in as we can. We aren't ready for that 20K yet! We are in the process of planning a trip to Mexico as well. I turn 30 in a couple of weeks so I wanted to do something fun! :) It will be kind of a birthday/anniversary trip with Cory's brother Joe and his wife Steph (who also turns 30 this year!). We are excited for it!
The kids are both growing like weeds. Kane is getting ready to turn 3 in June and we are going to have a Jake and the Neverland Pirates themed party. He is definitely growing because we had to buy him new shoes and clothes...everything was looking quite small on him! He is always talking about who is "best friends" are at daycare and his vocabulary is expanding. It amazes me sometimes what he has to say! He is a little entertainer and is always on the move. He still absolutely loves his baby sister and likes showing her off (even though she has now started to get into his things).
Little miss Landry is on the move. She has now figured out how to army crawl. She is like her brother in that she would rather be moving than sitting still. She would rather play with Kane's toys than her own and she's awful quick to get to them! She's going to be a busy body like her brother! She is a very good eater and lets us know when we are not quick enough to feed her! We think she is starting to get some teeth because she is slobbering like crazy, but nothing has popped through yet. She is also starting to make more sounds when she's jabbering like na na na, da da da, and ma ma ma. We finally got the point of letting Landry sleep in the same room with Kane (we only have 2 bedrooms upstairs and we didn't want Kane downstairs yet). She was in our room for 6 months and she has slept well at night since about 2 months. We just didn't want them waking each other up, but it has gone surprisingly well!
